Meet the Doctor

My wife Mimi and I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, known as the birthplace of chiropractic.

Prior to Palmer I took undergraduate courses at the University of Delaware, Wesley College, and Delaware State University. My background includes training in the U.S. Army in the medical field and serving for nearly ten years.

Dr. Mimi Skocik graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She holds a Bachelors degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Delaware and is a native of Dover.

I always wanted to be a chiropractor, but didn't really get the big picture until serving at Palmer's Outreach Clinic. It was there, working with people who because of economic and other circumstance weren't able to receive care, that Mimi and I learned the power of the healing touch of chiropractic and the amazing effect it can have.

After Palmer College, I worked as an associate of Dr. Tim Martin in Wilmington, Del. Mimi and I later became owners of Better Life Chiropractic in Marcus Hook Pa.

Because Mimi and I both grew up in Dover we decided in 2010 to return to our hometown and opened Skocik Chiropractic. It's been a wonderful experience. In March 2011, along with our 6 year old daughter Miya, we welcomed our new son Liam.

I've learned to focus on working with the muscles that surround and support the spine and other parts of the body. That and the 'trigger point therapy' system I've developed has a dramatic effect on many of my patients. It's especially effective for patients with muscle spasms/tension problems often caused by accidents and chronic injuries.

Mimi and I understand that each patient is unique and has differing needs. Our techniques, which include the Palmer Package and Diversified and Activator Methods are tailored to individual needs.

Our practice is growing steadily. Our mission is to help families in the community experience improved health and accelerated healing through chiropractic.
